2nd Grade is hosting Community Meeting!

60 minutes in 1 hour

Students are learning about minutes on the clock this week.  We made a giant clock face and used counters to show the minutes in an hour and how to count how many minutes are past the hour.

Story Telling around the "fire"

Our class is studying about how people came to live in Vermont and New Hampshire, and what life was life for Native Americans long ago before the Europeans came to settle NH and VT.  We made a "campfire" and listened to Gluscabe and How Maple Syrup came to be.

Field Trips this week...

This is a reminder that field trip permission slips are due asap for our Seed Hike and All School Hike this week.

Our class is reading Charlotte's Web by E.B. White.  This week, Charlotte stopped by to listen to her story.

Parts of a Seed

Students have been studying the parts of a seed, how seeds grow,and how seeds travel. They have been dissecting seeds to find the parts of a seed.  This is an up close photograph of the inside of a bean captured by a mini microscope camera borrowed from Mr. Butler.  We then labeled the parts as a class on the smartboard. 

Here is a photograph from the microscope of one of our Sister Green Beans from our SME 2nd Grade Garden. The seed coat is not in this photograph.
